Protocols
The following protocols are currently offered by this server:
- Do53 (also known as "Classic DNS") over TCP*
- DoH2 (DNS over HTTPS/2, Endpoint: https://dns.jacobi-bs.de/dns-query)
- DoT (DNS over TLS)
- DoQ (DNS over QUIC)
* Please note that, DNS queries on port 53 using UDP are not supported, as DNS servers that respond to UDP queries can be misused for reflection attacks. If your end device does not support any of the alternative query options, the speed of name resolutions may slow down if you use this server.
The following protocols will be offered in the future by this server:
- DoH3 (DNS over HTTPS/3, as soon as Nginx in Debian will support it)
Security
This server performs DNSSEC validation.
Privacy
The content of DNS queries is not recorded. Connection data, such as IP addresses, are recorded for some services. This data is only used to ensure the functionality of the service. These logs are deleted after 7 days.
This server does not use an upstream DNS server for forward resolution, but queries the authoritative name servers directly. Your request is therefore forwarded to the operator of the respective domain. Your own IP address will be replaced with that of the server.
